Why we refuse to scalp a lawn
Eustis sits on deep, sandy soil that drains fast. Grass cut too low loses the leaf it needs to shade that sand, so the ground bakes, the roots stay shallow and weeds move into the thin spots. These are the UF/IFAS recommended heights, and they are what our mower decks are set to:

Alongside the height, we stick to the one-third rule: no single cut removes more than a third of the leaf blade. Turf that has been let go is lowered over two or three visits rather than chopped down in one.
How often we come, and why
Warm-season turf around Lake Eustis grows fastest from spring into fall, when the rainy season and the heat arrive together, and it slows right down once nights turn cool. That is why visits run weekly April through October and every second week November through March, roughly 41 in a year. A January lawn doesn’t need a weekly cut, so you don’t pay for one.
